Aftercare
General guidance for caring for a new tattoo. This is not medical advice — if you notice signs of infection (spreading redness, fever, pus, increasing pain), contact a doctor.
First 24 Hours
Leave the original bandage on for the time Karina recommends (usually a few hours). Wash your hands before touching the area. Gently wash the tattoo with lukewarm water and unscented antibacterial soap, pat dry with a clean paper towel — don't rub.
Days 1–14
Wash the tattoo 2–3 times a day with lukewarm water and gentle soap. Apply a thin layer of fragrance-free lotion or the aftercare product Karina recommends — a thin layer, not a thick coat. Expect peeling and light itching around days 3–7; this is normal healing, not a reaction.
Do
- Keep the tattoo clean and moisturized
- Wear loose, breathable clothing over the area
- Use unscented, gentle products only
- Stay hydrated — well-hydrated skin heals better
- Wear sunscreen (SPF 30+) once fully healed
Don't
- Don't pick, scratch, or peel the skin
- Don't soak in pools, hot tubs, lakes, or baths until fully healed
- Don't expose the fresh tattoo to direct sun
- Don't use petroleum-based, heavily fragranced, or alcohol-based products
- Don't re-bandage tightly or wrap in plastic for extended periods
